Youth Innovation

Providing the youth an opportunity to participate in the development process of the nation might have been the vision of Jawaharlal Nehru, but today, it is also the vision of everyone at the Center for Youth Development and Activities (CYDA) for which we have initiated a program called Youth Innovation Fund. The objective of the Youth Innovation Fund is to provide a pool of resources and funds to support the efforts of young people by using community service as a learning opportunity for them. The process involves two weeks of intensive work where young people between 12 to 25 years engage in projects of their choice that are beneficial to the community, thus allowing them to develop useful life skills (viz leadership skills, communication skills, negotiating techniques, problem solving and decision making capacities, etc), thereby achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the grass root level. Projects are selected based on how innovative they are, whether the project has equal participation of boys and girls, whether it inspires others, and lastly how it directly impacts people’s lives.

2007: CYDA supported 5 Youth Innovation Projects in Pune, Ahamed Nagar, Osmanabad, Latur districts of Maharashtra.

2008: In Association with UNICEF, CYDA promoted 17 Youth Innovation Projects in Bihar, Maharashtra and Gujarat states.

2009: CYDA in Association with National Foundation for India promoted 8 Youth Innovation Fund Projects. Those who are interested, kindly apply. This project is available to the youth from Pune city only.
