Campaign to Stop Violence Against Girls has being a major program, which CYDA initiated ever since its inception. It began in 2004 with taking up various activities at Pune as well as different districts of Maharashtra. As a part of the campaign, the sessions with the schools and college students were organized, which addressed variety of issues related to the violence and a healthy discussion was generated amongst both boys and girls. Along with the workshops with the students, they were also shown a Marathi documentary film - ‘Mulichya Jatila He Shobhta Ka’ and various competitions like debate, elocution, Essay, Poster, and slogan were also organized. The VAG campaign was culminated in by a girl’s parliament, wherein the students from different schools and colleges participated. Act4Change – A street theatre group of CYDA performed street plays related to the issues named ‘ Mulichya Jatila He Shobhta Ka?’ at various places during the campaign to give this campaign more visibility. In 2006, 15 girls from Sangamber, Parbhani, Solapur rode motor bikes traveling over 500 km and reached Mumbai, culminating on International AIDS day, informing the public that there is nothing that a girl cannot reach.
The nine partner organizations along with CYDA collaborated to expand the reach out of the VAG campaign every year. The districts where this campaign was taken up were Amaravati, Usamanabad, Ahamadnagar, Sangli, Solapur, Vardha, Akola, Satara, and Kolhapur, addressing various stakeholders and using various mediums of communication. All the districts were coordinated by CYDA. Even today, the campaign reaches out to young people all over Maharashtra.
